Hillbilly mushrooms derive their name from their rugged appearance. These medium-sized mushrooms have uneven, conical caps measuring up to 2.5 cm in diameter. Their caps vary in color from chestnut brown to pale caramel, sometimes showing an olive hue. The sturdy stem shares a similar color palette, and it features a delicate ring halfway up, a remnant of the partial veil that protected the mushroom during its growth.
