P. Natalensis mushrooms were initially found in South Africa, primarily in the Natal region, where they often thrive in xerophytic, dry environments. These mushrooms exhibit hygrophanous characteristics, meaning their brown caps can transition to white. They belong to the Hymenogastraceae family and contain elevated levels of the naturally occurring psychoactive compounds psilocybin, psilocin, and baeocystin, which are known as alkaloids. Psilocybe natalensis bears similarities to Psilocybe cubensis but stands out as more resilient to mold. Additionally, it boasts higher potency compared to Psilocybe cubensis.
